History
A brief history
HIMATEK-ITB was founded on September 26, 1952, in Room 9008 of Institut Teknologi Bandung, under the leadership of its first chairman, Tjan Soe It. Born alongside the second oldest study program at ITB, it has grown into one of the institute's oldest and most enduring student organizations, carrying forward a legacy of kinship and professionalism across generations.
Seventy four years on, HIMATEK-ITB continues to stand as a living testament to what a community can become when it chooses to grow together.

Purpose
HIMATEK-ITB was founded with three purposes in mind: to support the achievement of Chemical Engineering education and teaching goals at ITB; to develop professionalism among Chemical Engineering students from an early stage and strengthen human resource capacity through a variety of organizational activities; and to shape the dynamics of student affairs in Indonesia by upholding a critical, rational, open-minded, pioneering, and idealistic spirit in facing the nation's challenges.
Foundation
HIMATEK-ITB is grounded in Pancasila and professionalism, standing on the values that shape both the nation and the profession we serve.
Nature
HIMATEK-ITB is independent and self-governing, free to chart its own course while staying true to its members.
